Email alias transfer

Hand over an email address without handing over your inbox

Sold a project? Passed a community to a new moderator? Left a role? With Vend Email you transfer the alias itself - the new owner receives all future mail, the address never breaks, and nobody ever sees your personal email.

After a transfer, mail simply flows to the new owner's inbox instead of yours.

When you'll be glad the address can move

An email address quietly becomes the key to accounts, renewals, and relationships. When ownership changes, you want the key to change hands too.

You're selling something

The account, lifetime deal, or product you're selling is tied to an email address. Transfer the alias with the asset and the buyer gets every future receipt, reset link, and renewal notice.

You're stepping back

Hand the sponsor, support, or contact address to whoever is taking over - a co-founder, a new maintainer, a community moderator - without sharing a single old email.

You want to get paid

If the address is part of something valuable, set a price on the transfer page and Stripe handles the payment. Learn how selling works.

Transfer an alias in three steps

1

Use a Vend alias from day one

Create the address and point it at your inbox. Use it for the account, project, or community like any other email. Not sure how aliases work? Start with our plain-English guide.

2

Open a transfer page when it's time

Decide whether the handoff is free or paid, add any notes for the recipient, and share the private transfer link.

3

They accept, you're done

From the moment they accept, future mail routes to their inbox. Your personal address was never exposed - before, during, or after.

Frequently asked questions

What actually gets transferred?

Ownership of the forwarding alias. After the new owner accepts, mail sent to the address forwards to their inbox instead of yours. Your existing mailbox and message history stay with you.

Does the address stop working during a transfer?

No. The address keeps receiving mail throughout. Only the forwarding destination changes once the transfer is accepted.

Can I charge for a transfer?

Yes. You can make any transfer free or set a price, and payment is handled securely through Stripe before ownership moves.

Will the new owner see my personal email address?

No. Aliases keep both sides private. The new owner sees the alias, not the inbox it used to forward to.

Can I transfer an alias on a custom domain?

Yes, on a Vend managed domain. We handle DNS and renewals so the address keeps working no matter who owns the alias.

What does it cost to get started?

Creating aliases is free. Paid plans add more aliases, domains, and transfer features - see the pricing page for details.
