Security that doesn't stop at your login
Signing in keeps strangers out of your account. Password-protected forwarders go a step further, keeping the aliases that matter most locked even while you're signed in, so a borrowed laptop or a screen left open doesn't give everything away.
Lock the forwarders that matter
Most aliases don't need guarding: newsletters, shop receipts, the address you gave a forum. A few are different. The one your doctor writes to, the one tied to a legal matter, the one a client sends contracts through. Turn on Password protected on those, and their details and messages stay hidden until you confirm your account password.
Mail keeps forwarding exactly as before. Protection only changes what can be seen and changed inside your Vend account.
Locked means locked everywhere
While a protected forwarder is locked:
- Its page, recipients, description and tags are hidden behind your password
- Its messages, attachments and replies can't be opened, and its rows in your mailbox show only which forwarder and when
- It can't be edited, deleted or pointed at a new recipient
- It's left out of searches, so a match can't hint at what's inside
- It's left out of CSV exports, and skipped when you bulk delete or change recipients
One password, then out of your way
Confirm your password once and every protected forwarder unlocks together. They stay open while you're working with them and lock again after 30 minutes away. A banner tells you they're unlocked and until when, and Lock now closes them the moment you step away.
It's your normal account password, so there's no extra PIN to remember. Signed up with Paced Email or LinkedIn and never set one? Use “Forgot password?” to create it.
Two-factor sign-in
Protection guards what's inside your account; two-factor authentication guards the way in. Add an authenticator app to ask for a six-digit code after your password, with recovery codes in case your phone goes missing. Or register a security key and tap it to finish signing in.
What protection is, and isn't
Password protection is a lock inside the Vend app. It isn't end-to-end encryption, and it can't reach mail that has already arrived in your own inbox, so keep that inbox secured too. API tokens you create keep full access to your account, so treat them like passwords. And to keep the service safe for everyone, our support team can still access protected forwarders when investigating abuse.
Where it works
Password protection and two-factor sign-in are included on every plan and on lifetime accounts. Protect a forwarder from the Protection card on its page, and set up two-factor from Account security.
